Garlic Butter Baked Scallops

Tender sea scallops baked in a rich garlic butter sauce with a crispy panko topping. An elegant yet easy dish perfect for special occasions or a quick weeknight dinner.

  • 1 ½ pounds sea scallops, patted dry
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place scallops in the prepared baking dish in a single layer.
  4. Pour the garlic butter mixture evenly over the scallops.
  5. In another small bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
  6. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the scallops.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until scallops are opaque and breadcrumbs are golden brown.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For best results, use dry-packed scallops and pat them thoroughly dry before baking. If using frozen scallops, thaw completely and pat dry. Serve immediately with crusty bread or over pasta.
